YOUTH & HIGH SCHOOL FALL BASKETBALL TEAMS BOYS AND GIRLS!

Our new fall youth basketball teams in MA aims to set apart Premier Hoops from all other basketball programs in Mass.

We have locations all over the state where players practice such as:

Braintree, MA

Cambridge, MA

Dorchester, MA

Lexington, MA

Peabody, MA

Methuen, MA

Marblehead, MA

We feel as though in order to play for a competitive youth basketball team, players should maintain good grades as well as be a good citizen.

As great of an athlete or basketball player you really are, you also need to do well in the classroom.

This is an excellent NY Times article http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/10/15/grading-college-athletes/?_r=0, which features the image below:

College Sports Project, an initiative of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, which analyzed the grade-point averages of 83,728 students from 84 N.C.A.A. Division III colleges and universities.

As you can see, there are no average grade point average’s below a 2.84.

Over the past several years, Premier Hoops has built a culture of excellence on the court as well as in the classroom.

Although we understand that a small percentage of high school athlete’s will end up playing at the college level, we also know that education is just as important (if not more) than basketball.

Without a good education and positive role models, youth athletes and basketball players in MA will very rarely succeed.

Below are the statistics of high school players’ chances of playing in college taken from this article: http://www.scholarshipstats.com/basketball.htm

ncaa-stats

As you can see only about 6% of all high school basketball players from US play in college!

It takes a lot of hard work, practice and dedication both on and off the court.

We are proud to say that at Premier Hoops over 97% of our high school athletes graduate high school and then attend prestige’s colleges and universities in the United States.

Some of our players are recruited to play basketball or end up walking on to a college team.

However, some players do not go on to play at the college level, but still  make lifetime friends and learn the value of being a part of a team, working hard and receiving a great education.
